To make this recipe you’ll want to use a cast iron skillet. The best thing about cast iron is that it can go directly from the stovetop to the oven with no worries. They’re also great at keeping food warm while serving.

Lodge Cast Iron is really the go-to brand of cast iron skillet. The brand has been around for over 125 years!

If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, you can use another skillet, but just make sure that the handle is oven safe and won’t melt or warp once you put it in the oven.

How to Reheat Skillet Turkey Pot Pie

To get the best results when reheating I use a two step process. I first microwave for a few minutes – however long it takes your microwave to heat it through – and then as a second step I put it in the oven or toaster oven so that the biscuits can get a bit crispy again.

FAQs

How do you reheat turkey pot pie? ›

What's the best way to reheat turkey pot pie? You can cover the whole dish with foil and reheat the pot pie in a 350ºF oven. Depending on how much is left, it could take 10 to 20 minutes. Just be sure not to place your dish into the oven directly from the fridge.

How do you get brown biscuits on top? ›

Remove the skillet from the fridge and lightly brush the biscuit tops with buttermilk. Bake for 6 minutes, then reduce the oven to 375 degrees and continue baking for 13 to 15 minutes, or until they've puffed up and the tops are lightly browned.

What makes homemade biscuits hard on top? ›

If your biscuits are too tough…

Likewise, the stickiness makes it tempting to over-knead biscuit dough, which will break down the butter into smaller pieces, shrinking the air pockets they will create during baking. The result: Tough, dense biscuits.

Does pot pie have a bottom crust? ›

Traditionally, a chicken pot pie typically has a crust on the bottom, which serves as the base for the filling. The top of the pot pie is also covered with a pastry crust, creating a complete, enclosed dish.

What do you eat with pot pie? ›

Sliced tomatoes and cucumbers make an excellent side dish with the pie, or you might serve it with a mound of freshly made coleslaw. Or serve the chicken pie with a cooked vegetable, such as green beans with bacon, a simple dish of sautéed asparagus with lemon, or roasted Brussels sprouts.

How long to reheat turkey pot pie in oven? ›

Preheat the oven to 350° and reheat the whole dish covered with aluminum foil and then take off the foil for the last 5 minutes or so. Depending on how much is leftover, it could take up to 20 minutes to reheat.

Can you cook canned biscuits on top of the stove? ›

To cook canned biscuits on a stovetop, you can use a frying pan or a griddle. Simply preheat the pan or griddle over medium heat, then place the biscuits on it. Cook for a few minutes on each side until they are golden brown.

Should biscuits touch in the pan? ›

Whether using a cast iron skillet or a baking tray, lay your biscuits so they are touching sides and all connected. This helps them rise higher, as they provide support for one another as they bake – kind of like a doughy shoulder to lean on!

Will biscuits stick to pan? ›

The amount of fat in the dough affects how easily the biscuits, scones and shortcakes can be removed from the cookie sheet or baking pan. Try lightly spraying cookie sheets or baking pans with no-stick cooking spray.

Do you grease biscuit pan? ›

Metal baking sheets without sides are best. Pans with sides will bake less evenly. There is no need to grease your baking sheet when baking biscuits.
