Iced Mocha Latte Recipe - Just 4 Ingredients! - Wendy Polisi (1)

As an ardent lover of all things coffee and a self-proclaimed chocoholic, I've found the perfect antidote to those afternoon lulls - the delectable Iced Mocha Latte.

The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity and versatility. Got a busy day ahead? Whip it up for a quick, refreshing boost.

Or perhaps you're yearning for a leisurely treat? Sip on this iced mocha recipe as you unwind and watch the world go by.

And the best part? You don't need to be a professional barista to craft this masterpiece at home.

Trust me, one sip, and you'll be saying goodbye to those mid-day blues and chocolate cravings - no trip to Starbuck's required.

Let's dive right in, and I'll guide you through each step to becoming your home's favorite barista.

Simple Ingredients

  • Cold Coffee: Make sure to use good-quality coffee and brew it strong - it makes such a difference in the final flavor. If you don't have coffee, an espresso or even instant coffee will do the trick.
  • Milk: You can use dairy-free milk such as almond milk, coconut milk or oat milk. Use whole milk or skim milk for a traditional twist.
  • Dutch-Processed Cocoa Powder: This is where the 'mocha' in our Iced Mocha Latte comes from. Dutch-processed cocoa powder gives the drink a rich chocolate flavor that's simply irresistible. If you're out of this, use regular unsweetened cocoa powder or even chocolate syrup in a pinch.
  • Sweetener: I typically use a sugar-free alternative like Swerve, allulose, or monkfruit. If you prefer a different sweetener, feel free to swap it out with your sweetener of choice, be it regular sugar, honey, or another sugar substitute.
  • For Topping: Feel free to top your iced latte with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, or caramel syrup.

What to Expect

In this post, we'll be exploring the delightful world of Iced Mocha Lattes! You'll discover how to create this refreshing, chocolatey delight with clear, step-by-step instructions.

We'll also share some handy make-ahead tips for those busy mornings when you're in a rush but still crave your favorite caffeinated treat.

Wondering about storing your homemade Iced Mocha Latte? Don't worry; we've got you covered with practical storage options. And if you're a planner, our freezing instructions will be a lifesa

How to Make an Iced Mocha Latte

For the full recipe with measurements, see the recipe card at the end of the pots.

Step 1: Gather your ingredients.

You will need cooled coffee, cocoa powder, dairy or non-dairy milk, and your favorite sweetener.

Step 2: Blend the milk and powders.

Pour the milk in a tall container (I like to use a mason jar), and add the cocoa powder and sweetner. Using an immersion blender, process until smooth. You can also use a blender or simply stir very well.

Step 3: Add the coffee.

Add the coffee to the jar and process until combined.

Step 4: Add ice and serve!

Place ice in glasses and pour the mixture over. Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks

  • Coffee Ice Cubes: Making coffee ice cubes is a fantastic way to keep your Iced Mocha Latte chilled without diluting the flavor. Plus, it's an ingenious method to make use of any leftover coffee. Simply pour your leftover hot coffee into an ice cube tray and freeze. Pop these coffee cubes into your drink for a bold, undiluted coffee taste.
  • Storage Solutions: If you're brewing for one but this recipe makes two servings, don't worry! You can easily store the extra serving in a mason jar in the fridge. It's not just practical, but also adds a touch of rustic charm to your drink. When you're ready for round two, give it a good shake, add some ice (or coffee ice cubes) if you wish, and enjoy straight from the jar!
  • Straw Selection: While paper straws make for great photos, for everyday use, I'm partial to stainless steel reusable straws. Not only are they eco-friendly, but they also stay cool, adding to the refreshing experience of sipping your Iced Mocha Latte.
  • Freezing the Latte: If you're a plan-ahead type of person, you'll love this tip. Make your Iced Mocha Latte ahead of time and pour it into ice cube trays. When you're ready for a frosty treat, blend these latte cubes in a blender for a slushy-style drink. It's like having a gourmet coffee shop right in your own kitchen!
  • Customize Your Sweetness: The beauty of homemade drinks like this is that you can adjust the sweetness to your preference. Whether you love your lattes super sweet or subtly so, you're in control. Start with less sweetener, taste, and add more if desired. Remember, it's easier to add more sweetness than to take it away!

Variations for this Iced Mocha Latte Recipe:

  • Add ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For a creamier latte, add 3 tablespoons of coconut cream.
  • Add 1 tablespoon MCT oil and a scoop of collagen powder to turn this into breakfast.
  • Add a teaspoon of peppermint extract for a minty twist.

Equipment

  • Coffee maker

  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups brewed coffee cooled
  • 2 cups milk of choice dairy or non-dairy
  • 2 tablespoons Dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup sweetener I used a sugar free zero calorie sweetener like Swerve

Instructions

  • Fill two tall glasses with ice and add coffee.

  • In a jar combine milk, cocoa powder, and sweetener.

  • Use an immersion blender to blend until smooth. Alternatively, process in a blender until smooth.

  • Pour over the coffee and serve cold.

Notes

Note: Carbohydrate count does not include the sugar alcohols in Swerve.

Variations:

  • Add ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For a creamier latte, add 3 tablespoons of coconut cream.
  • You can substitute any sweetener you like - including maple syrup or honey.
  • Add 1 tablespoon MCT oil and a scoop of collagen powder to turn this into breakfast.
  • Add 2 drops good quality peppermint essential oil or a teaspoon of peppermint extract.

Tips:

  • Instead of using ice that can water down your drink, plan ahead and make coffee ice cubes! It is a great way to use leftover coffee, and also ensures that you get a bold coffee taste.
  • This recipe makes two servings. If you are just making it for yourself you can go ahead and make both servings and store one in a mason jar in the fridge. Then when you are ready to enjoy simply shake, add ice if desired, and drink from the jar with a straw. (While I use paper straws for photos, for everyday use I like stainless reusable straws.)
